Summary 🍪

Hi, my name is Nick, and I’m the founder of Localie. I have to admit — you’re about to embark on my dream trip, something I’ve always wanted to organize. This May, we’re inviting you on the most epic sailing adventure we’ve ever planned — an 11-day voyage from Amsterdam to Bergen, crossing the North Sea! ⛵🌊🇳🇴 This remarkable voyage takes us from the intricate waterways of the Netherlands through the challenging North Sea to the dramatic fjords of Norway. This journey is in collaboration with Xploration Sailing, experts of adventurous sailing expeditions in remote and beautiful locations. We'll be aboard Xploration's proven offshore vessel "Perola do Mar", designed specifically for challenging northern waters, offering both safety and comfort as we navigate diverse maritime environments. The expedition is led by Francesco della Noce, a professional captain with extensive high-latitude sailing experience. Throughout the journey, we'll gain insights into traditional navigation techniques, learn about the rich maritime history connecting these northern nations, and experience firsthand the changing landscapes of the North Sea. Our route connects three distinct maritime traditions — from Dutch lowland sailing through open North Sea passage-making to Norwegian fjords navigation. We'll sail past traditional Dutch windmills, experience the vast openness of the North Sea, and navigate through Norway's mesmerizing maze of islands before entering the breathtaking fjords. This expedition is for those seeking complete renewal, answers to questions, new ideas, and boundless inspiration. We create sailing journeys that transform lives and encourage you to fulfill long-held dreams — all in the most supportive company of like-minded adventurers ❤️

Accomodation

⛵️ OUR BOAT: PEROLA DO MAR Perola do Mar ("Pearl of the Sea") is a 50-foot steel staysail schooner, designed by Dudley Dix and built in 1997 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. She's a unique vessel — of only around 15 hulls built to this design, she's the only one with a staysail rig. The boat underwent acomplete refit in 2022 in Marmaris, Turkey, where our team disassembled her down to bare metal and rebuilt her for expedition capability. With two masts and five sails, she's been meticulously prepared to navigate any waters worldwide, including high-latitude sailing in Arctic regions. Perola features five comfortable cabins accommodating up to 10 adventurers, a saloon with panoramic 360° views, two washrooms with showers, and a fully-equipped galley. She's outfitted with modern technology including Starlink connectivity, radar, a watermaker, solar panels, and diesel heating in every cabin - creating the perfect combination of safety, comfort, and exploration capability. This vessel isn't merely transportation; she's a self-sufficient floating home that allows us to reach the world's most remote waters with confidence. 🛌 CABIN ARRANGEMENTS - Accommodation is provided in twin/double cabins - The yacht features 5 cabins in total, distributed throughout the vessel - Each participant will be assigned to shared accommodation with one other person - Solo travelers will be paired with another participant of the same gender - Couples or friends traveling together can request to share a cabin 🚰 ONBOARD FACILITIES - Two toilets with showers are available for participants - Fresh water is available for essential needs, though conservation is practiced - Common saloon area serves as dining and social space - Fully equipped galley (kitchen) with refrigeration - Storage for personal items is provided in cabins, though space is limited - Charging stations for electronic devices are available in common areas 🧘🏻‍♀️ COMFORT CONSIDERATIONS - Quality bedding and towels are provided - Cabins are compact but designed for efficient use of space - Natural ventilation throughout the vessel - Heating system for cooler northern nights - Hot water is available after running the engine 🍳 MEALS AND DINING - Meals are prepared in the onboard galley - Dining takes place in the common saloon area - Food costs are shared among participants (approximately €30/day) - Shopping for provisions will be organized at ports along the route

I'm truly a world citizen, and explaining my origin is challenging. Born and raised in Ukraine, I moved to Russia at 13 due to my parents' relocation. I never felt at home in Russia, but I did find good friends and tons of inspiration there. Fueled by a constant dream to leave Russia, I embraced the identity of a world citizen. At 20, I spent four months in the USA on an internship program, living in OBX, North Carolina. High five if you know what I'm talking about 😉 After university, I bega...
